These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Hey friends! I hope you all are doing well and staying healthy.

Today’s post is exactly what the title suggests. A list of happy things.

Unless you live under a rock or are of alien species, then you probably know that the world in general just isn’t doing all that great right now.

Life is tough. There’s a lot to be sad about.

But there’s also a lot of happy things too.

I, being an individual of singular creativity and imagination, decided that the only logical thing to do, would be to think up as many happy things as I possibly could.

Naturally, this list grew quite extensive, so for the sake of time and sanity, I have shortened the list to 8 Things That I Am Currently Enjoying. (shout out to Jenna Terese who has similar posts to this one and from whom I may or may not have stolen the idea.)

Without farther ado, let us begin.

The grass all soft and green, the trees getting their leaves back, the flowers blooming, the sunshine warm against your face and the sky clear blue without a cloud in sight.

Unfortunately, where I live, the weather has been rather…um…confused of late. A couple weeks ago, it was hitting the seventies, warm and sunshiny. Two days later it was snowing. Hard. I’m not kidding. The following days it rained. And now it’s warm again.

Grrr. *bangs head against desk*

Hopefully spring is here to stay. (I for one do not appreciate snow in May.)

I was a little skeptical when I first heard about them, but I decided to go ahead and get one any way.

And I’m so INCREDIBLY glad I did.

I bought mine from Amazon and it’s a m a z i n g. It’s super soft, snug but breathable, just the right weight and length and SO COZY. It’s like a hug, guys, a hug. *sighs with happiness*

These things are life changers, y’all.

Why was not reading his poetry years ago?

Just listen to this:

The rain to the wind said

‘You push and I’ll pelt.’

They so smote the garden bed

That the flowers actually knelt,

And lay lodged–though not dead

I know how the flowers felt.

(Lodged by Robert Frost)

I’m crying. How is it so beautiful?!

I love these too: Not to Keep, The Pasture, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.

It’s just so wonderful. ❤️❤️❤️

I could listen to his solo piano pieces on repeat for years.

His songs are so peaceful and calming…sometimes they make me want to cry. I especially love his singles kid, and i can still see the road through my tears but all of them are wonderful.

I listen to his music when I’m feeling stressed, when I’m feeling happy, and when I just need something soothing.

(It also makes phenomenal background noise for while you’re writing.😊)

Oh, wait.

She’s always my favorite. 😜

Sending it, receiving it, I LOVE IT ALL.

I used to send mail religiously when I was a child but stopped a couple years ago.

I am happy to announce that I have since picked it up again! It’s such a wonderful, happy thing and has enriched my life so much!!

Is there anything more lovely then pulling an envelope from the mailbox addressed to you, decorated and handwritten by a friend hundreds of miles away, their love and friendship splashed all over it?

My sister gave me some for Christmas and I strung them up against the ceiling of my bedroom. The warm, soft glow they emit creates such an atmosphere of coziness and peace. THEY’RE SO WONDERFUL.

Want to add some cozy touches to your room? Need a little more sparkle in your life? Your back porch look too drab? Want to scare away the Grinch?

GET SOME STRING LIGHTS! They’ll lighten up your life.

(wow, I really missed my calling in life as a salesperson.)

I never realized that drawing little elephants could be so fun!

Because of the virus, I’ve been spending lots of time at home which has allowed me to pursue my creative interests more fully. Like writing and drawing and learning guitar. (the last thing is more of a I’m-dreaming-about-learning-guitar then a I’m-actually-learning-guitar sort of deal. *cough, cough*)

Anyways, I’ve recently re-discovered the joys of sitting down and drawing little happy things just for the fun of it. It’s quite relaxing.

Why did I choose eight? A random number, I know, but I ran out of time, so this post was short. (the consequences of not planning ahead.)

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this peek into some of the things I’ve been loving recently and that it will inspire you to look for things in your own life that bring you joy!

Spread happiness,

  1. aww. this was such a wholesome post and I’m here for it. ❤️
I love spring so much, and our weather also needs to make up its mind. It’s not having as intense changes as your weather but we’ve had rain and sun and then some more rain.
Snail mail and pen-paling is amazing and I love it with my whole heart. The way you worded the paragraph was so perfect and I absolutely adore it.
your kitty is the cutest thing ever.
    loved this a million xx

  2. Those elephants are so delightful! Doodling can be so pleasing, especially when adorable things like elephants are involved 🙂
Snail mail is a wonderful thing. I started writing letters to my friend who is going to school in New York, and I really enjoy it. There is something so satisfying about a real letter as opposed to an internet message.
So many happy things! Great post!
I will have to check out Zachary Bruno now.

    1. Absolutely! Do you like to draw? (I don’t think I ever asked you that…)
Aw, that’s so fun! Just something about knowing that many miles away someone you love sat down and wrote you a letter, carefully placing it in the envelope and addressing it to you…it’s just so WONDERFUL. 🧡
YES, please do check out Zachary Bruno. He’s amazing! 🙂
      Thanks, Sponge!!!

      1. I like to doodle quite a bit, and sometimes I try to do more serious drawing, but not very often. It is so much work. Doodling is just fun. 🙂
I have been listening to some Zachary Bruno and enjoying it! I actually quite like his “unreleased” pieces on YouTube, particularly “Ache” and “Faces.” Thank you for introducing me to his music!

        1. Aw, really? That’s so cool!! 😊 I agree because I tend to be the same way…I’ll sit down and try to focus really hard and get everything just right, but that’s just stressful and in a couple minutes I’m right back to mindlessly doodling all over a napkin or something. 😂
YES, “Faces” and “Ache” are soooo pretty!! Absolutely, my pleasure! 😀

  3. I read through this with “My Favorite Things” from the Sound of Music stuck in my head, which was as awesome as this post was. So many cheery things! Your joy and enthusiasm and appreciation for life is so inspiring and delightful. 😀
I absolutely LOVE Robert Frost, and it makes me happy when someone else does too. His poems are just so, so – genius and beyond words.
You won’t get much sympathy from me about snow in May, lol. I can count the times it’s snowed here on one hand and I’m eagerly awaiting the day the skies will bestow it on me. *spreads arms out majestically and waits until the next Ice Age*

Robert Frost. *melts* SO. BEAUTIFUL. ❤️
Ooh, sorry you don’t get much snow…it really is so wonderful! Just not in May. 😂 Your could move to Canada…or Alaska??? Just throwing some options out there. 😜

Ooh, you like Zachary Bruno too?! That makes me happy! Isn’t his music just so wonderful? 😊
yeah, my kitty. she’s pretty adorable. *isn’t biased at all*
Thanks for your comment, Evelyn. My day is made. ❤️❤️❤️

      1. Aww thanks! I’m addicted to aesthetic so my room reflects that. 😜

I have multiple family members with cat allergies (pet allergies in general) so we don’t. It’s so sadddddd. I used to have a cat when I was a lot younger. When I have my own place, I’ll most likely get one . 😊💛

  5. Aw, yay! This is such a sweet and fun post. It’s such a good practice/habit to look around at the ‘little’ joys and blessings we have. ❤ Spring, snail mail, and Zachary Bruno music are all so wonderful! 🙂 The others are too, but I especially like these 3. 🙂 🙂 Oh, AND I love seeing your little drawings!! AND I should probably fit more Robert Frost into my life. Want to read some to me?? 🙂

  6. SPRING.

I haven’t ever read Lodged, and I have been missing out. That was beautiful. Robert Frost is an amazing poet (also…somehow I am not at all surprised that you love him. y’all have that same vibe). I love Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening so much too! (Also, I can say it in a Southern accent and it sounds SO WEIRD. Just a random fact.)

*makes note to look up Zachery Bruno’s music*

Your kitty is so adorably smug. I love her.

I was about to be sad because I MISS WRITING LETTERS TO MY FRIENDS, but string lights and elephant doodles cheered me up again, haha. I love this post. ❤ Happy spring!!

    1. Isn’t Lodged so beautiful? 😭❤️ (I have the same vibe as Robert Frost? oh, my. I’m flattered, I really am! 😊) (Okay that was a random fact, Sarah, but also highly amusing. 😂)

*pats you on the back for looking up Zachery Bruno music* I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Aw, I love my kitty too. And the reason she looks smug is because she thinks she’s the bees knees. She’s so spoiled…🙄😂

Aw, thanks, Sarah! Happy Spring to you too!! 🤗
